Mkomazi National Park
Mkomazi national park is the southernmost projection of the sahara. Mkomazi national park is a true highlight within the whole of East Africa. The park is the most distant outpost of the sahel-zone that stretches south from the sahara desert The environment is harsh and dry having many of the features of a semi-desert, but the sheer beauty of the landscape the purity of style to be seen in the trees and shrub savanna, the striking red, iron-stained soils and colorful floral splendors make mkomazi a wonderful expanse of land.another significant features of the park is that it is mostly situated in a pocket in mountains, which greatly increases the diversity of its flora and fauna.
Mkomazi is the only place in Tanzania where one can
encounter the rare antelope that are typical of the sahel-zone, the lesser
Kudu, Gerenuk and beisa Oryx, all of them within a short space of time.Here we
can see some animals likeBlack Rhino,Wilddog,Elephant, caracal , Cheetah ,
Lion, Leopard, Lesser kudu, Warthog, Zebra, Buffalo, Duikers, Hyena, Blue
monkey, Serval cat , Wildebeest, Topi, Impala, Kongoni, Dik-kids, Waterback,
Bohor Reedbucks, Klipspringer, Hippopotamus, Bush Pig, Olive baboon,
Vervet Monkey, Senegal galago, Bushbaby, Greater kudu, Eland,
Thomsons gazelle, Impala, Gerenuk, Bat –eared fox,, Grands gazelle,
Heartbeest, Jackals, lots of birds, insects and many wild plants.
